Earth Oven Workshop – June 25-27, 2010, Newbury, MA - Three-day hands-on workshop will teach you how to build a beautiful and durable earth oven using natural, native materials. Earth ovens, also known as cob ovens, have been used for centuries in outdoor settings to bake bread, pizza, meats, beans, pastries and more. These ovens stay hot for hours making them a wonderful gathering point for outdoor events!This workshop is appropriate for homeowners, community organizers, artists, landscapers, masons and builders. Natural Plasters Workshop – August 7-8, 2010, Grafton, NY –Two-day hands-on workshop on natural plasters for interior and exterior applications. For all skill levels. You will leave with a basic understanding of prepping, mixing and applying natural plasters on a range of surfaces. We will address topics including various mixing methods, tool use, properties of plaster components, material estimation, and how to approach different scale projects. Workshop is in a straw bale house.Lunches included. $200-250.
Natural Plasters Immersion – August 4-10, 2010, Grafton, NY – Learn the ins and outs of natural plasters for interior and exterior applications. The immersion experience includes a two-day workshop as well as a week of hands on instructional experience. Immersion participants will literally get into the nitty gritty of mudding, including developing appropriate recipes, qualities of clay and lime in plaster, and refining tool use. The immersion is an opportunity for those interested in gaining a thorough understanding of plaster fundamentals. $600-750. Space is limited. Inquire for application details.
Earthen Floors Workshop – Fall 2010, Grafton, NY – Three-day hands-on workshop on the preparation, installation, and finishing of an earthen floor, also known as a cob or poured adobe floor.Over the course of the workshop we will cover preparing the space, mixing and application techniques for subfloor and finish floor, tool use, and finishing the floor.Lunches included.$275-400.

Unless otherwise indicated workshops are held in Grafton, NY.We will send directions along with a confirmation packet of complete information and directions when after we receive the registration form with a deposit.
Local accommodations are available.
The options below are recommended. You can choose which place to stay depending on how much you want to “rough it”.If you stay locally, consider bringing your bike to get to the farm. There are also many bed and breakfasts within 30 minutes you can find on the internet.

Rainbow Camp (about 1-3 minutes)
This is a very simple camp house on a pond just down the road owned by our community.There is a shared kitchen, flush toilet, beds, and running water, as well as a lake to swim in.You can also pitch a tent there and use the amenities inside.
